2027 UCI Cycling World Championships
The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) is the world governing body for competitive cycling, overseeing disciplines from road and track racing to mountain biking, BMX and gravel.
Haute-Savoie 2027 is much more than a single World Championship. For only the second time, the UCI is bringing its major cycling disciplines together for one huge international event a format held every four years. Over 13 days, more than 15,000 athletes will compete for 288 world titles across 20 different UCI World Championships.
Events will take place throughout Haute-Savoie, including Sallanches-Domancy, Annecy, Les Gets, La Clusaz and other Alpine locations. For cycling fans, it is a rare opportunity to see many different forms of world-class cycling in one region with some of the biggest road races taking place in the Pays du Mont-Blanc, close to Chamonix.

Why stay in Chamonix?
Chamonix sits beneath Mont Blanc and provides a base for exploring the wider cycling terrain of the French Alps while remaining close to the road-race action in the Pays du Mont-Blanc.
A trip could combine:
-
Watching the Elite race at Sallanches and Domancy
-
Riding in the Chamonix valley
-
Riding the Côte de Domancy yourself
-
Exploring the climbs around Megève and the Aravis
-
Visiting Les Gets for the mountain bike events
-
Taking a day trip to Annecy for the time trials
Rather than changing hotels as the racing moves around Haute-Savoie, you can establish one base and choose the events you most want to see.

Côte de Domancy
For road cycling fans, Domancy will be one of the defining locations of the 2027 event.
The road-race circuit is 13.3 km long with approximately 285 metres of climbing per lap. Its principal challenge is the Côte de Domancy: 2.5 km at an average gradient of 9.4%, with sections reaching 16%.
The climb has an important place in cycling history. Bernard Hinault attacked on the Côte de Domancy on his way to winning the rainbow jersey in Sallanches in 1980.
UTMB and the Championships
UTMB Mont-Blanc brings runners and supporters to Chamonix in late August. The 2027 dates are still awaiting official confirmation and may overlap with the cycling championships, so secure accommodation and plan local travel early.
